St. Sabina parishioners, cardinal meet
FATHER PFLEGER'S SUSPENSION | Few details after lay leaders of St. Sabina talk with George
The Rev. Michael Pfleger never seemed to meet a microphone he didn't want to speak into.
When it comes to talking about the activist priest's temporary suspension from his parish, though, his supporters as well as Cardinal Francis George and others in the archdiocese now are virtually silent.
As many as 10 lay parish leaders of St. Sabina met with George Thursday to ask him to reinstate Pfleger, whom the cardinal temporarily removed from the South Side parish.
On Wednesday the leaders spoke passionately at a news conference asking George to reinstate Pfleger. On Thursday, they weren't quite as vocal.
"It was just a good meeting," said Kimberly Lymore, St. Sabina associate minister.
The cardinal and archdiocese would have no further statement on the situation, said Susan Burritt, archdiocesan spokeswoman.
Pfleger's removal followed comments he made mocking Hillary Clinton, saying she believed she was entitled to the Democratic nomination because she is white.
