Updated: August 11, 2013 8:58PM

ALL SIGNS MOON ALERT: Avoid shopping or making important decisions after 8:45 a.m. (for the rest of the day). The Moon is in Aquarius.

◆ARIES (March 21-April 19): This is an interesting day to meet people, especially in group situations. It’s as if the lid is off. People are freewheeling and going with the flow. It’s a Moon Alert day, which is not good for shopping or making decisions but it’s great for schmoozing.

◆TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Be discreet around authority figures because you can’t control what’s going to happen. There’s a strong likelihood that private details about your personal life will become public. Refrain from making important suggestions.

◆GEMINI (May 21-June 20): This is a great day to explore new ideas, meet new people and see new and different places. You’re curious to learn more and it will please you to have heady discussions about politics, religion or philosophy. Many things fascinate you today!

◆CANCER (June 21-July 22): Although you’re concerned about financial issues or matters pertaining to insurance, inheritances, taxes, debt and shared property, don’t make important decisions because this is a poor day for important decisions in general.

◆LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You will have to go more than halfway when dealing with others, so be prepared to compromise or accommodate their wishes and needs. However, don’t volunteer for anything and don’t agree to anything important. Just be pleasant and cooperative.

◆VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Shortages and minor delays might take place at work. Cope as best you can and postpone important decisions. This week is beset with goofy, silly errors and mistakes, but fortunately, they’re minor. You might have to learn new technology or deal with technological glitches.

◆LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): This is a creative day, so make use of it if you work in the arts. Original, spontaneous ideas will flow! Parents should be vigilant about children because this is a mildly accident-prone day for them. Romance will hold a few surprises and, possibly, detours.

◆SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): You might want to cocoon at home (a luxury not everyone can explore). Discussions with a female relative are significant. Although your focus is on family matters, this is a poor day for important decisions. Stay light on your feet.

◆SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Keep pen and paper handy because you might come up with genius-like ideas. (They could also be crazy.) New places, new faces and new ideas are popping up everywhere. Avoid important decisions but welcome the opportunity to put a new spin on things.

◆CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Finances and cash flow are unpredictable. Keep an eye on your money. It’s a Moon Alert day, so it’s not a good day to shop for anything except food. Something unpredictable or surprising might take place. Stay on speaking terms with your bank account.

◆AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Today the Moon is in your sign dancing with your ruler Uranus. This makes you feel excited and ready for action. An underlying thrill will permeate everything you do. Nevertheless, the Moon Alert aspect means that anything can happen.

◆PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): This is a restless day. You have that feeling that you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop. (Invariably, it’s ugly and not your size.) Don’t push the river. Keep things easy because surprises can pop up out of anywhere. Allow extra time for everything that you do today.

If july 23 is Your Birthday: Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman (1967) shares your birthday. Basically, you’re a traditionalist with conservative roots. However, at times, you’re not sure. You vacillate. You love history. One other thing is certain — you are compassionate and kind. Life is such that you often retreat into a protective shell. This year you might give up something you’ve been involved with for nine years to make room for something new.
