Updated: August 11, 2013 8:57PM

ALL SIGNS MOON ALERT: Avoid shopping or making important decisions after 10:45 a.m. The Moon is in Capricorn.

ARIES (March 21-April 19): Be patient and respectful with authority figures — parents, bosses, VIPs and the police. If not, someone might throw you a zinger when you least expect it. Don’t rebel or say anything you will later regret. Today is full of shocks, setbacks and delays.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Travel plans might be canceled, delayed or changed. Ditto for anything related to publishing, the media, the law, medicine and higher education. Avoid controversial subjects with others because their response might shock you.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Check bank accounts and wherever you stash your savings because things are unpredictable. You might encounter a few surprises. Perhaps money you expected from someone has evaporated. Count on nothing from others because it’s a slippery slope.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): You have to be patient dealing with partners and close friends because they might suddenly erupt or be upset about something. Possibly, you are the person who loses it. People are quick to be defiant and rebellious, so don’t tempt anyone.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Your work routine will be interrupted. Computer crashes, technological glitches, power outages or canceled meetings are par for the course. People are inclined to be defiant and a bit lippy. Don’t tempt anyone because who wants a fight? Anger only makes everyone miserable.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Take note, parents: Be vigilant because this is an accident-prone day for your kids. Know where they are and what they’re doing. This is also a mildly accident-prone day for sports. Social occasions might be canceled. It’s a rocky day for romance as well.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Small appliances might break down or minor breakages could occur. Something is going to happen that changes your domestic routine. It could be minor (“We’re out of milk”), or it could be major (“We’re out of coffee!”). Family members might be short or cranky with each other. Be conciliatory.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Pay attention to everything you say and do because this is a mildly accident-prone day for your sign. This applies to you physically as well as verbally. Therefore, think before you speak. (Did you know that the origin of the word scruples means “to hesitate”?) Fascinating.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Keep an eye on your money because you might find money or you might lose money. Ditto for your possessions, which you should guard against loss or theft. You might even break something. This is a poor day to shop for anything except food.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Don’t be hasty jumping to conclusions. (Easy to do.) You might also be impatient with others. You crave excitement because you want a little action but you want greater freedom. Be careful about stirring the pot with someone just to see how they react.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Secrets might be revealed. Something behind the scenes that is unexpected will likely occur. Things are a bit unstable, which makes is a poor day for important decisions or anything rock solid. Tread carefully. Double-check everything you do.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Friends might surprise you or be short-tempered. Perhaps you will meet someone who is a real character or a bit bizarre. All your relations with others, especially in group settings, will be full of unpredictable qualities and detours.

If july 21 is Your Birthday: Actor Robin Williams (1951) shares your birthday. Whether you are flamboyant or quiet, you are an adventurer. You want life to be stimulating and exciting. This is why you often seek out dangerous occupations or hobbies. You have a biting wit and are not afraid to shock others (in fact, you enjoy it). Look for opportunities to study and learn something valuable this year because it will make a difference to your future.
