Wary of pesticides on your produce? Here are the fruits and vegetables found to consistently have the highest -- and lowest -- levels of pesticide residue, based on an analysis of federal pesticide-testing data done by the Environmental Working Group, a Washington lobby group that urges people to buy organic when it comes to the 12 most contaminated items:

•    Apples
•    Sweet bell peppers
•    Celery
•    Nectarines
•    Strawberries
•    Cherries
•    Pears
•    Grapes (imported)
•    Spinach
•    Lettuce
•    Potatoes

LOWEST IN PESTICIDES

•    Onions
•    Avocado
•    Sweet corn (frozen)
•    Pineapples
•    Mango
•    Asparagus
•    Sweet peas (frozen)
•    Kiwi
•    Bananas
•    Cabbage
•    Broccoli
•    Papaya
