So here’s your chance to work out like the stars do with Ordway’s new Pilates for beginners DVD. The beautiful outdoor setting and serene music will let you pretend you’re at a spa, even if you’re working out in your rec room.

While this is touted as for beginners, that doesn’t mean it’s super simple. Ordway herself reminds at one point, “It’s harder than it looks.” You’ll be glad if you stick with it. There’s a total body regimen and separate sessions focusing on lower body, waistline and core.

Ordway’s instructions are very clear and specific, making her easy to follow. The movements are small and controlled; many are familiar. They aim to improve one’s balance and coordination.

One nice thing about this DVD is it pays attention to an area of the body — inner thighs — many workouts skip over, yet it’s one area women really want to work on. Again, the movements are slight but you do feel it.

All the workouts are top-notch, but I especially liked the total body segment. Used it to stretch out after a particularly hard cardio workout a day earlier and I felt great afterwards. — Sue Ontiveros
