Not everyone wants to work out at a gym. Leslie Sansone figured that out and created her Walk At Home program, which includes a series of DVDs that numbers more than 100.
Her latest is “Walk It Off in 30 Days.” Users do the 30-minute cardio workout three days a week, alternating it with a 30-minute strength-training regime (you rest on Sundays). In the intro the always-smiling Sansone tells viewers that by doing the two workouts for 30 days, you’ll increase energy and build muscle.
Walking in your living room? Sounds boring, but in her Burn 30 workout, Sansone mixes up the walking with kicks, side steps, taps and my favorite, cha-cha runs. As the music picks up the pace, so does the routine. Transitions are seamless because of her clear instruction. And the DVD cover doesn’t exaggerate; it’s a nonstop workout, which adds to the challenge. In Firm 30, Sansone works every muscle group and again offers good instruction, which is especially helpful to anyone new to weight training. She encourages upping weights as you get stronger. If you’re looking to exercise and try weight training, this is a good option. —Sue Ontiveros
