Creamy Banana Pudding

1½ cups cream cheese, softened

1½ (5.1-ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix

4½ cups milk, divided

1½ teaspoons vanilla extract

1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

1 (12-ounce) package vanilla wafers, coarsely crushed

4 bananas, sliced

Optional: additional whipped topping and vanilla wafers (broken into large pieces)

In food processor or blender, process cream cheese, pudding mix, 2½ cups milk and vanilla until smooth. Pour into large bowl; whisk in remaining milk.

Whisk whipped topping into pudding mixture. Layer crushed vanilla wafers, banana slices and pudding mixture into 4-quart casserole dish. If desired, top with additional whipped topping and vanilla wafers.

Chill at least 4 hours before serving.
