Market day

Green City Market opens for its 10th season at 9:30 a.m. today in Lincoln Park. Chefs Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris of Prairie Grass Cafe help kick off opening day during a tasting event focused on early spring greens. At 9 a.m. Saturday, Bill Kurtis will lead a rally for local sustainable farmers at the market.

Kick backs

Tsuki, 1441-1445 W. Fullerton, will host a self-defense class at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Proceeds will benefit the Chicago Abused Women's Coalition. A $10 donation will be taken at the door. Call (773) 883-8722.

Going for Goa

Marigold, 4832 N. Broadway, takes diners on a culinary journey through India's Goa region on Tuesdays in May; $25.
