Damilano Barolo Cannubi makes Chicago debut

Barolo Cannubi

They call Barolo the “king of Italian wines” and despite its lighter color than most full-bodied reds, it packs a lot of power. Always made from 100 percent Nebbiolo grapes and hailing from the rolling hills of the Piedmont region, Barolo goes well with roasted meats and chilly nights. The 2008 Damilano Barolo Cannubi recently was made available in Chicago, and offers plum and cherry plus hints of leather and a bit of spicy licorice. The tannins in this wine cry out for rich, flavorful meats so prepare a feast and pick up a bottle ($80) at select Binny’s locations. —Michael Austin
