Oct. 19 is Sweetest Day (guys, you have been alerted!) and Chicago will be the sweetest place on Earth thanks to the second annual Chicago Fine Chocolate & Dessert Show running Oct. 18-20 at Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand. A showcase of world-class chocolatiers and their creations, the event also features vendors, specialty items, live pastry demonstrations, chocolate wine/beer pairings, free seminars on baking/candymaking and samples. Highlights include a 1,000-pound, life-size chocolate sculpture titled “Brother of Blues” from Chef Alain Roby (All Chocolate Kitchen); a chocolate “art gallery” from the French Pastry School; a cupcake competition from Pastry Chicago, and Sixteen’s Executive Pastry Chef Patrick Fahy’s chocolate-themed “carnival.” For tickets, visit chicagochocolatefestival.com. —Miriam Di Nunzio
