Outta the Box: Big Bowl Spicy Peanut Sauce

November 11, 2009

HHH

Suggested retail: $5.99 for 10-ounce bottle

Per 1 ounce: 101 calories, 6 g fat, 452 mg sodium, 8 g carbohydrates

How many times have you tasted a restaurant’s signature sauce and said, “If only I can duplicate that at home.”

Big Bowl realizes this, and has made its signature dipping sauces and dressings available to the home cook.

The sauces — spicy peanut, sweet and sour plum, mustard sesame and soy vinegar — are the same ones served with Big Bowl’s pot stickers, satay and spring rolls.

Use your imagination to create dishes around them, or put them in service as dipping sauces.

I stir-fried chicken with noodles and used the thick, spicy peanut sauce to bump it up a notch. I also tried the plum sauce — it’s a sweet and sour combination that pleases the palate. Both were a palate-pleasing success.

You can purchase the sauces at any Big Bowl location.
