Tall order

Tallgrass, 1006 S. State, Lockport, celebrates its 27th anniversary in unique fashion with a seven-course, 27-bite menu of the restaurant's signature dishes today and Sunday; $100 ($150 with wine pairings). Seatings are between 6 to 8 p.m. both days. (815) 838-5566.

Farm friendly

Family Farmed Expo comes to the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph, Friday through Sunday. The show is designed to connect local farmers with the public. Activities include cooking demonstrations, workshops and an indoor farmers market. Tickets are $15 ($20 at the door). Visit www.family farmed.org.

Sharing it day

The Merchandise Mart, Kinzie and Wells streets, hosts its 26th annual food drive to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. Dropoffs of nonperishable food items and cash donations will be accepted. Donation pickups can be arranged by calling (312) 527-7600.

Fox & Obel, 401 E. Illinois, helps raise funds for the Greater Chicago Food Depository with its daylong Shop for a Cause event from 6 a.m. to midnight Thursday. The store will donate 10 percent of sales that day to the organization. (312) 410-7301.

Grownup gingerbread
