Bridal shop spray-painted $5,000 Wang wedding gown and others, tossed in Dumpster

Updated: January 6, 2012 12:34AM

EDINA, Minn. — A bridal shop owner has apologized for the way wedding dresses worth thousands of dollars were disposed of in Edina.

Community members expressed outrage after remaining dresses at Priscilla of Boston, which closed last month, were spray-painted red and thrown into a Dumpster. Many felt the dresses — including a Vera Wang dress with a $5,000 price tag — could have gone to charitable causes.

In a statement Thursday, David’s Bridal, parent company to Priscilla of Boston, says changes will be made.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports David’s Bridal said it recognizes that some of the dresses “could possibly have gone to worthy causes.” The company promises to bring together its remaining Priscilla of Boston gowns to evaluate them and ensure they are donated to charity whenever possible.
