The Chicago Dancing Festival was in full swing last week, kicking off its six-day program with an opening night to remember. On Monday night, guests sipped Champagne during a pre-performance cocktail party before moving into the Harris Theater to watch the Chicago-themed program, which included a dance commissioned to honor the late Maggie Daley. The crowd was awed when Bolero Chicago — a group of 50 citizens who received only three weeks of training — took the stage. More than 200 VIP guests, including Mayor Rahm Emanuel and his predecessor, Mayor Richard M. Daley, attended the Prima Parti, an exclusive rooftop after-party, to mingle with the dancers while snacking on Chicago-style hot dogs, popcorn and sliders. The Sun-Times was the media sponsor of this event.
