Pro boxers Felix Abner and Robert Jekabson are used to duking it out in front of screaming fans, but Saturday night they were surrounded by models strutting down dual ringside runways for the Live.Love.Life benefit, themed “Where Grit Meets Glam.” The models rocked the runway wearing Americana-inspired looks — star-spangled outfits, along with military and cowboy gear — provided by Topshop and local costume designer Ramsey J. Prince. Inspiration for the event, which was held at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington), struck when the charity’s founder Jane Monzures learned of her mother’s diagnosis with Corticobasal Syndrome, a rare degenerative brain disease. “It’s all about how hard you get hit and keep moving forward,” said Monzures, who is the co-host of “Living Healthy Chicago” and the morning show on WIQI FM’s i101. Proceeds benefitted the Northwestern Memorial Foundation. The Sun-Times was the media sponsor of this event.
