Allergies and Alaia designer clothes don’t normally go hand in hand — unless it’s a book party for Erica Reid’s The Thriving Child at posh downtown clothing store Ikram. Last week, about 75 guests gathered for a book party hosted by store owner Ikram Goldman and financial maven Mellody Hobson in honor of Reid, who is married to “X-Factor” judge and record executive L.A. Reid. While sampling the in-store cafe’s farm-to-table fare, guests — including Hobson’s boyfriend, George Lucas — learned about Reid’s successful quest to heal her children’s severe allergies and asthma through their diets. “This is simple,” said Reid. “You can either let food kill you, or it can heal you.”
