Cascading water walls and bouquets of white calla lilies set the scene for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago’s Aqua Ball at the Radisson Blu last weekend. BGCC President and CEO James Keane praised the woman’s board’s “volumes of generosity” — helmed by Jacky Ferro, wife of Sun-Times parent Wrapports Chairman Michael Ferro — in attracting nearly 600 guests to the party and raising close to $1.5 million. Luxe auction items include an Hermes handbag, a trip to Paris Fashion Week and a day with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, but the real star was Youth of the Year awardee Nora Martinez, who stepped up to the stage and thanked the BGCC for helping her “become the person I want to be.”
