Fox Valley couple finalists in wedding contest

Nichole Guzzo found her dream guy in Brian Johnston. Engaged since October, together the happy couple hopes to land their dream wedding.

Guzzo, of Geneva, and Johnston, of St. Charles, are one of five couples named as finalists in The Knot Dream Wedding contest, an all-expense paid wedding planned by a celebrity wedding planner and TheKnot.com editors. The Valentine’s Day wedding in New York City — with each element selected by the public — will be streamed live on TheKnot.com, Facebook and other media platforms for the world to enjoy.
“This wedding would mean absolutely everything to Brian and me and our families,” said Guzzo, 24, a student at DePaul University. “Besides no longer being a financial burden to our parents, this wedding would also allow us to share this special day with our entire families and the world.”
Johnston, 23, who asked Guzzo to marry him after a year and a half of dating, shared the sentiment.
“This wedding would be a great adventure for us,” said Johnston, a part-time firefighter who is attending paramedic school. “It would be something we would tell our grandkids and probably anyone else who would listen. This would also mean that I would have the ability to give her the wedding she has always dreamed of.”
Anja Winikka, TheKnot.com site director, agrees, saying the winning couple can expect, “the wedding of their dreams.”
“Planned by The Knot experts and celebrity planner Amy Shey Jacobs, the event will be a beautiful wedding at the iconic Bryant Park in New York City,” Winikka said. “All elements of the big day are provided to the couple and voted on by people across the country twice per week.”

“I think our love story is something very special and winning would make me the happiest girl in the world,” Guzzo said.
