Mom's best

Chef Michael Reich of Great Street Restaurant, Renaissance Hotel, 1 W. Wacker, salutes his mom by offering some of her special dishes during a Mother's Day brunch, including her caviar pie -- egg salad and creme fraiche topped with oscietra caviar. Brunch is $54, $20 for children ages 6-12 and free for kids under 6. Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (312) 372-7200.

Roast pork

Jackie Shen of Red Light, 820 W. Randolph, and Steve Dolinsky of WLS-Ch. 7 host a pig roast cooking class at noon May 18 at Red Light; $55. Joining them will be Goose Island brewmaster Greg Hall. Bobtail Ice Cream Co., 2951 N. Broadway, Chicago, and 1114 Central, Wilmette, has kicked off a contest to create its newest flavor. "Flavor ballots" will be accepted through June 1 at both shops. The winner, to be decided July 12, gets a free cake or pie with the featured flavor and a free scoop weekly from July 28 to Dec. 1.

The sixth annual Dunkin' Donuts Rooftop Stakeout fundraiser for Special Olympics Illinois is Friday. Stop in a shop with a cop on the roof and receive free coffee and donut when making a donation.
