Could ‘total stickler’ of a judge mean jail time for Lindsay Lohan?

Lindsay Lohan may think she won’t be heading back to jail after her Wednesday appearance before Judge Stephanie Sautner, but that doesn’t match what I was told by a friend of the judge.

Lohan has been quoted by RadarOnline and other outlets as saying she expects a lecture — but no additional jail time — for not closely observing the terms of her probation for her various legal problems. Among the accusations: being booted from her community service duties (for poor attendance) and merely phoning in psychiatric sessions that were supposed to be face to face.

My source, who has known Sautner “for many years,” said that the judge’s reputation for being tough is justified. “Stephanie is a total stickler for the rules. … She is not happy about people getting off from serving time just because of the overcrowded jails and prisons in California,” said the friend, referring to the state’s practice of not jailing non-violent offenders.

† If Lohan is jailed Wednesday, a further complication would involve film production companies who have pending deals with Lohan.

It seemed Lohan’s problems were behind her until recently, when it appeared she had again fallen off the wagon. Then came her scary-looking appearance at a red carpet event last week, and more details surfaced about her failing to fulfill her court-ordered obligations.

LOOKING GOOD: It sure seems like the Jay Cutler-Kristin Cavallari reconciliation is continuing right on track, with the actress back in town and seen with her ex-fiance all over town, including a cozy sighting at Public House over the weekend. Friends of the reconnected couple say the duo are taking it slowly but are happy to be back together.

DOWN THE AISLE: Yet another wedding tied to the participants’ reality TV shows took place Saturday as former “Beverly Hills 90210” star Shannen Doherty took her third trip to the altar, this time with photographer Kurt Iswarienko. The Malibu ceremony was filmed for the finale of the couple’s WEtv reality series, launching early next year.

Previously, Doherty was married to Ashley Hamilton and Rick Salomon, famous for the sex tape he made with Paris Hilton.

DOWN NO AISLE: While John Mellencamp reportedly is hot to marry girlfriend Meg Ryan, I’m hearing the actress is perfectly happy with maintaining the status quo. “Meg’s never been happier,” said a longtime friend of the actress. “She just sees no reason why they need to get married.”

HEALTH UPDATE: While quite a few readers emailed and texted me about Richard Simmons — worried about the veteran exercise guru’s extremely gaunt look on “Dancing With the Stars” last week — I’ve been assured my old pal Richard is not ill. “He’s never been healthier,” says Simmons’ spokesman.

A couple of the flamboyant personality’s pals do say they think Simmons’ various cosmetic treatments, including reported facial plastic surgery and hair plugs, have changed his appearance — perhaps not for the better.

BOOK BEAT: Former Sun-Times religion writer Cathleen Falsani will be back in the area this week, promoting her latest faith-based book, Belieber! Fame and the Heart of Justin Bieber. Falsani has carved out an intriguing niche as the author of several books dealing with the intersection of spirituality and pop culture, including The Dude Abides: The Gospel According to the Coen Brothers (2009).

MOMMY DEPT.: It’s probably not surprising expectant mother Beyonce is working with her mom, Tina Knowles, to develop a line of maternity clothes as part of their House of Dereon fashion brand.

GETTING STAGED: The next big screen hit to be turned into a theatrical production is “The King’s Speech,” which won four Oscars last February, including best picture and best actor for Colin Firth. The stage version of the story about King George VI’s battle with his severe stuttering will premiere in Britain — with Aussie actor Jonathan Hyde playing the king’s speech therapist, Lionel Logue — before hitting Broadway next fall. A U.S. national tour is also in the works.

SEEN ON THE SCENE: Ballet fan Rahm Emanuel — who already had seen a rehearsal of Twyla Tharp’s “Scarlatti” — was joined by his family for the ballet’s world premiere at the opening of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s 34th season at Harris Theater. The mayor also went backstage to praise the dancers as “the greatest ambassadors for the city of Chicago.”
