Kate Middleton frets about figure as wedding to Prince William nears

Updated: August 4, 2011 4:20PM

Could Prince William be dealing with a problem his father faced with Will’s mother, Princess Diana? Despite the fact Kate Middleton is in great shape and clearly has a perfect figure, the future princess’ friends reportedly are concerned that she’s constantly talking about her weight and body image — even more as her April 29 wedding date approaches.

Could Middleton possibly have an eating disorder problem — as famously so did Diana?

The bride-to-be is 5-foot-10, weighs 120 pounds and reportedly wears a very small dress size. She’s on the Dukan diet, a high-protein French program that starts with no carbohydrates and then slowly folds them back into your diet.

Kate’s supposed total obsession with food and weight issues has some of her pals deeply concerned.

London sources are whispering that she’s completely focused on how she will look in that soon-to-be famous wedding dress — knowing those photos will forever be part of history.

UP, UP & AWAY: Superstar Will Smith is a first-class kind of guy — literally. When the actor discovered Aer Lingus had him booked in coach for a 50-minute flight from Dublin to Manchester, England, Smith immediately plunked down $15,000 to charter a private jet for the trip.

Will and his clan are accompanying daughter Willow Smith on her European tour with Justin Bieber.

SO FAR, SO GOOD: The honchos at Summit Entertainment — and director Jodie Foster — are breathing a sigh of relief after the SXSW festival premiere of the Oscar winner’s “The Beaver” flick in Austin, Texas.

The reason for the nervousness? It was one of the first high-profile audiences to screen the film — which stars Mel Gibson. Given his recent history, there was concern he might be booed when he first appeared in the movie.

It didn’t happen and, in fact, the audience loved the flick and gave it a big ovation at the end.

HACKING AWAY: The list of celebrities whose computers and mobile devices were hacked is growing. TMZ reports the FBI believes as many as 50 stars are involved, including Ali Larter, Miley Cyrus, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Caulfield, Busy Phillips and Vanessa Hudgens.

† The FBI already has interviewed Hudgens — who’s been very vocal about old nude photos of her being released on the Internet. As her “Sucker Punch” film arrives next week, she doesn’t want all the attention to be on those pix — instead of her career.

RYAN’S RILED: Alleged baby daddy Ryan Phillippe is denying claims by model-actress Alexis Knapp that he isn’t helping her financially. The actor is furious about Knapp’s blabbing — especially since he’s not even convinced the child she’s carrying is his. Though Phillippe has agreed to a post-birth paternity test, his camp also stresses the “Lincoln Lawyer” star has been shelling out bucks to Knapp for her expenses — just in case the kid is his.

SEEN ON THE SCENE: As tipped here, there will be plenty of LeAnn Rimes sightings the next couple of weeks while beau Eddie Cibrian is here shooting the “Playboy” TV pilot for NBC — starting with a workout session at Equinox on Boul Mich and dining at Le Colonial. … Aretha Franklin had the Bulls crowd going wild when they played “Respect” at the United Center and the Queen of Soul boogied with Benny the Bull! … Hairstyling guru Vidal Sassoon — in town boosting the documentary about his life (“Vidal Sassoon the Movie”) — took a break to catch “God of Carnage” Wednesday at the Goodman. … Lin-Manuel Miranda, the composer of “In the Heights” and a few songs in “Working,” attended a performance of “Working” at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place — and joined the post-show discussion with the cast and audience. … Nick Lachey had heads turning while lunching Thursday at Public House.

TUNE TIME: Fans of local songbird Ava Logan will want to know she will be performing at University Park in Chicago Heights at 8 p.m. Saturday — part of the university’s ongoing cabaret series.

Bill Zwecker reports on “Good Day Chicago” and “Fox Chicago News at 9” on WFLD-Channel 32.
