Broadway bows to James Gandolfini

“Sopranos” creator David Chase says Tony Soprano (portrayed by James Gandolfini) owes a debt to Ralph Kramden, but he also said his HBO series set out to create multidimensional, realistic characters.

To honor James Gandolfini’s memory, Broadway theater marquees will go dark for one minute at 8 p.m. (New York time) Wednesday. Best known for “The Sopranos,” the actor starred in several Broadway productions, including his Tony-nominated role in “God of Carnage.” — B.Z.
