C hristina Aguilera is said to be very upset — as are the folks at Billboard — over what both the singer and the magazine are saying are “fake quotes” being attributed to the current Billboard cover story on Aguilera.
“Christina is very used to all kinds of phony rumors about herself, but when presumably reputable publications and websites claim they are running direct quotes from her that are totally made up — that truly flabbergasted her,” said one of Aguilera’s good friends Tuesday. “First she was flabbergasted. Then she got very angry.”
Those quotes, carried by Us Weekly and a number of websites, had the pop star and coach from “The Voice” claiming she “got tired of being a skinny white girl” in 2002 and was forced to be “toothpick thin” by her record label to tour and promote her “Stripped” album. Reacting to reports the music superstar is growing weary of the constant media and paparazzi attention, a longtime Chicago pal of West said, “Kanye loves the spotlight, but just up to a point, and on his own terms. … With Kim there is no down time.”
John Cusack.
† Turning very serious in her address, Logan bluntly expanded on her riveting report on the “60 Minutes” season premiere last Sunday — painting a very grim portrait of the U.S. war efforts in Afghanistan and how many outright lies about the Taliban and al-Qaida are being foisted on the American public. Logan skewered those who compare our involvement in Afghanistan with the war in Vietnam. “That is just completely wrong,” said Logan, stressing “the Vietcong merely wanted us to get out of their country, unlike al-Qaida, whose goal is world domination … a desire to end our way of life as we know it.” The couple’s suit also claims Corgan ignored warnings about “dangerous trees” on his property. The music star told TMZ those claims were “patently untrue,” insisting he was never forewarned about the tree and since has removed similarly unstable tress from his property.
Jessica Ussery, are wondering what I do: What about apologizing to Aldean’s wife of 11 years?
† His next album is taking longer than he expected to finish, so crooner John Legend has called off his fall tour, including a Nov. 7 date at the Chicago Theatre. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
The Lake Forest Academy grad directed the 2005 film “The Dukes of Hazzard,” and according to dateline.com more recently has been directing episodes of the “Up All Night,” “Royal Pains” and “Community” TV shows.
BROADWAY BOUND: Just as “Kinky Boots” is rehearsing here for its big Broadway bow next year, there comes word another film is being developed as a musical for a splashy New York stage production.
Showbiz411.com reports “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,” the 2008 film starring Frances McDormand and Amy Adams, is being prepped for a Broadway outing — with “Steel Magnolias” director Robert Harling being tapped by Focus Features to write and possibly direct the show. The music and lyrics are being penned by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, who did “The Drowsy Chaperone.”
TAKE A BOW: Congrats to popular longtime Chicago-based media executive Abe Thompson, honored with the Living Legends Award from the Black United Fund of Illinois at the 12th annual “Living Legends/Passing the Torch” gala Saturday at the Parkway Ballroom.
The event encourages generational continuity in civil rights, business and the professions. In his case, Thompson celebrated “passing the torch” to the students of Kennedy King College.
