LOS ANGELES — “American Idol” judge and entertainment world superstar Jennifer Lopez is getting as much press as anyone on the celeb front these days — something that reportedly is making her ex-husband Marc Anthony a bit envious.
While J. Lo’s ex is happy for her success — and shares some of that spotlight on their joint “Q’Viva” show — he, too, is said to hunger for attention.
Maybe that’s why Anthony, 43, has been accepting just about every invitation that comes his way — as long as a red carpet is involved. He has been showing up at tons of events lately, joined by his 24-year-old Venezuelan beauty queen girlfriend Shannon DeLima, happily posing for the paparazzi as long as possible.
† After all, J. Lo has her own young lover, Casper Smart — and I hear Anthony merely wants to keep up! But something tells me he’s never going to pass up Ms. Lopez in the attention-grabbing department.
LET’S GET BUSY: While Arsenio Hall is thrilled with all the attention he’s getting after winning “Celebrity Apprentice” last Sunday, the veteran comedian, actor and TV personality’s happiness is tinged with a touch of understandable cynicism.
After all, with the exception of a few short-lived TV projects, Hall hasn’t been able to get a lot of career traction from his wide range of Hollywood pals since his nightly talk show was canceled — back in 1994.
However, Hall “gets Hollywood and how fickle it is,” said a longtime associate of the entertainer. “He’s just going to go with it and enjoy this new ride.”
That “ride” includes a bunch of film and TV offers — just since Sunday — and a likely new talk show he’d host. The executive producer? Donald Trump, who naturally is taking a lot of credit for Hall’s comeback on his reality TV competition.
HURTIN’ FOR BURTON: The schedule for the Lifetime film “Liz and Dick,” starring Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor, has LiLo and her producers a bit anxious — as none of the actors who have auditioned for the role of Richard Burton has thrilled them. Budget restraints have them only able to pay the Burton character a low six figures, meaning they can’t afford an A-list leading man, as Lohan desires.
They need to find someone good fast, as filming is scheduled to begin in just a few weeks. The cable movie will focus on the intense but tumultuous love affair between Taylor and Burton.
ANOTHER DENIAL: It’s probably understandable that Hollywood legal eagle Marty Singer is getting very tired of having to make nearly daily denials in the ongoing John Travolta “Masseur-gate” situation.
The latest is Singer’s firm bashing a story claiming Atlanta masseur John Truesdale (the recently revealed identity of the litigant known as “John Doe No. 2”) was offered $125,000 by Travolta’s legal team to drop his case.
Singer states that tale “is completely false” and continues to insist that he and the actor will fight all of the allegations that have arisen about Travolta and various masseurs claiming inappropriate sexual behavior.
IN THE RING: They’re lacing up the gloves for the annual Broker Boxing Federation charity fund-raiser Thursday night at the House of Blues — with some of Our Town’s feistiest real estate brokers duking it out for various worthy causes. Kudos to BBF founders Eric Nixon and David Goldberg.
POST-NATO: Leave it to Kathy Griffin to push the envelope. When the Oak Park native — wearing a “Tired Hooker” T-shirt — found herself on a Four Seasons Hotel elevator with a phalanx of Secret Service agents (reportedly on site protecting Afghan president Hamid Karzai), she just couldn’t help making an off-color crack about the recent Secret Service sex scandal. Word has it the agents did not laugh. … But Griffin did have fans in stitches during a late-night supper at Hub 51.
† More sedately, Jose Manuel Barroso, the president of the European Commission and the delegation of the European Union to the United States, got a special tour of the Museum of Contemporary Art — led by MCA director Madeleine Grynsztejn.
SEEN ON THE SCENE: New “Boss” cast member Sanaa Lathan was seen exiting Exhale Spa. … Meanwhile, “Boss” star Kelsey Grammer and Bears great Matt Forte were star attractions at the opening of Davidoff Cigar Lounge in Westmont. … Funnyman David Spade had folks chuckling at Old Town Social.
