After seeing Cher bashing Mitt Romney on Twitter, Donald Trump took to the social network to return the favor. “He especially enjoys pissing off people who have irritated him,” said a longtime associate of Trump's.

‘ O ne thing about Donald Trump — he loves to stir the pot,” a longtime associate of the real estate and reality TV mogul said with a laugh Tuesday. “He especially enjoys pissing off people who have irritated him,” added the source, who requested anonymity, as he still does “a lot of business with The Donald.”

This was all about Trump’s budding feud with Cher, stemming from his snarky response to the actress and singer’s insulting tweet about GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Upon hearing Cher tweeted she would never want to share the same air with Romney — or “his right wing racist homophobic women-hating tea bagger masters” — Trump also took to Twitter to dis Cher.

He tweeted a comparison with another of his nemeses, calling Cher “a total loser” like

Rosie O’Donnell and “an average talent who is out of touch with reality.” He later said Cher is “very miserable” and her comments about Romney were “very unflattering,” “inappropriate” and “nasty.”

† The real backstory dates to earlier tweets Cher penned about Trump — back when he was continuing to fuel the “birther” debate about President Obama. Apparently, Cher’s cracks about seeing Trump in Aspen squiring buxom bimbos really upset Trump’s current wife, Melania — even though that all happened before their marriage.

NATO NOTE: Three acclaimed filmmakers with Chicago roots — who came of age during the anti-war demonstrations during the 1968 Democratic convention in their hometown — are back this week to film the anti-NATO protests.

Haskell Wexler (“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”) and directors and writers Andy Davis (“The Fugitive,” “Collateral Damage”) and Mike Gray (“The China Syndrome”) will head up a 20-person team to capture the stories of the demonstrators. Davis told ReelChicago.com there is no specific documentary confirmed, but the group’s plan “is to find voices and images that can speak to the world about these issues ... and keeping Haskell and Mike safe.”

† One famous face heading here for NATO is acclaimed actress and playwright Anna Deavere Smith, who portrays a nurse on Showtime’s dark comedy “Nurse Jackie,” starring Edie Falco.

Smith will perform “Tell Us Where It Hurts, America’s Nurses Are Listening,” a theatrical piece written for the more than 1,000 nurses who will gather at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The program will follow the National Nurses United afternoon protest rally at Daley Plaza — organized to support a “Robin Hood” tax on Wall Street transactions to provide funds for programs including improved health care.

Tiger Woods’ ex-wife Elin Nordegren and her boyfriend, Jamie Dingman, are very much in love and eventually will marry, “though Elin is in no hurry to do that,” said a close friend Tuesday.

While Nordegren couldn’t care less what her ex-hubby thinks of her new beau, Woods is said to be happy she’s with the very wealthy businessman — mainly because Dingman is great with the former couple’s children.
