Signal Ensemble, the company with a permanent home at 1802 W. Berenice, has announced the three productions that will comprise the 2012-2013 season — its 10th anniversary. The lineup will include:
— The Chicago premiere of Robert Askins’ “Princes of Waco,” (Aug. 18-Sept. 22), described as “a viciously funny tale of violence and loyalty in deep Texas,” and directed by Bries Vannon.
— The world premiere of Jon Steinhagen’s “Successors” (Jan. 26-March 2, 2013), directed by Ronan Marra, in which Steinhagen (author of “Blizzard of ‘67”), spins the tale of a political family thrown for a loop when its patriarch, a third-generation mayor of a big city, decides to retire without endorsing any of his politically hungry children as his successor.
— Sheila Callaghan’s “Lascivious Something” (May 4-June 8, 2013), also directed by Marra, a play set on a secluded Greek island where an American ex-pat pursues his passions (winemaking and his breathtaking young wife) until the arrival of her former lover upends everything in Greek tragedy fashion.
