GREAT SCOT!
The National Theatre of Scotland returns (remember the stunning “Black Watch” last year) with “Long Gone Lonesome,” a show that salutes Thomas Fraser, a little-known fisherman who is one of Scotland’s most fascinating musical heroes. A fan of country and blues, Fraser mastered the style of his idols (Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Big Bill Broonzy) and created thousands of recordings that he shared only with family and friends. Presented as part of Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s World’s Stage Series, “Long Gone Lonesome” features the Lone Star Swing Band with Duncan McLean (guitar and vocals), Dick Levens (lap steep and mandolin), Iain Tait (electric bass) and Lynda Anderson (fiddle). Performances are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2-3 and 5, 9 p.m. Feb. 4 at The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia. Tickets, $25-$35. Call (312) 595-5600; chicagoshakes.com.
