Mike Young just might have the third-coolest job in the world as EA Sports’ creative director of the Madden video-game franchise. And that’s only because king of a small country and Playboy photographer have been around longer. So how did this self-proclaimed Steelers fan deal with Browns running back Peyton Hillis making the cover of Madden ’12? Time to put him in the Interrogation Room.

Joe Cowley: OK, if you’re a true Steelers fan, it has to be hard to look at the cover.

Mike Young: Every year, we get plaques for the office with the new cover on them. I don’t know if I’m putting this one up on the wall. It’s the game I love the most, but it’s hard to look at.

JC: Who was better — Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson, Tecmo Bowl Lawrence Taylor or Michael Vick Madden ’04?

MY: Bo Jackson. I mean, he was unstoppable. You run 400 yards on a single play by running down to the goal line, turning around before you score and run all the way back, then back again. Just taunt people.

JC: Does the voice of Gus Johnson ever scare you while you’re playing because of how excited he gets?

MY: Of course, but he’s so amazing in real life. We wanted that in the game.

JC: Don’t you miss John Madden’s “Boom’’ and “Bam’’ commentary?

MY: I would love to have John announce the game again. He’s incredible.

JC: With the new pregame entrances, who has the best one?

MY: Not trying to kiss up, but for sure the Bears. Everything about theirs was so unique. The bear, the smoke, the flag, the amount of pyro .  .  . we just loved how it looked. Seattle’s a close second.

JC: Will little Madden Jay Cutler finish out big games this year?

MY: I wouldn’t be surprised either way. The DPP [Dynamic Player Performance] will disappoint Bears fans to know that Jay’s rank is very inconsistent. So he will have games when he throws four touchdowns and other games he will throw four interceptions. Basically, it will be a very realistic account of Jay Cutler.
