HBO axes 3 series while renewing ‘Enlightened’

NEW YORK — HBO has canceled “Hung,” “Bored to Death” and “How to Make it in America.”
The cable channel said it will not order more episodes of the three comedy series, which recently concluded their seasons.
But it wasn’t all bad news: HBO said is has renewed the freshman series “Enlightened,” which ended its first season earlier this month.
Last week “Enlightened” earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Comedy or Musical Series, as well as a nomination for its star, Laura Dern. She plays an unstable career woman who wants to be a social activist.
HBO premiere six new series in 2012. They include “Angry Boys,” which debuts on New Year’s Day. AP
