Has SNL found its Fauxbama?
“Saturday Night Live” finally may have found its Fauxbama.
Word has it in comedy circles that Donald Glover, a writer for Tina Fey’s sitcom “30 Rock,” will begin performing on “SNL” with this weekend’s episode, the show’s first since the end of the writers strike.
Usually abuzz with political satire during a presidential campaign, “SNL” has been stymied this season without any cast members bearing a resemblance to Barack Obama.
The only person to portray him on the show has been the senator himself, when he appeared on the last pre-strike episode on Nov. 3. Glover — young, thin and black — seems poised to step into the role, just in time for Obama’s increasingly strong standing in the Democratic race.
Part of New York’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, Glover also has done guest spots on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” NBC wouldn’t comment on Glover but said a female comic, Casey Wilson, will debut Saturday as a featured player. Fey herself is this weekend’s host, with musical guest Carrie Underwood.
