NBC’s Salt Lake City affiliate has opted against airing the network’s upcoming fall drama “The Playboy Club,” citing objectionable content.
The series, to be shot in Chicago, takes place in a 1960s nightspot where crooners, mob bosses and politicians mingle among the city’s elite. Eddie Cibrian and Amber Heard star.
“The Playboy brand is known internationally,” KSL-TV president and CEO Mark Willes said in a statement. “We want to be sure everyone is clear what the KSL brand stands for . . .” The station is owned by Deseret Media Companies, controlled by the Mormon church.
