‘Idol’ premiere gets early viewing

“American Idol” fans in Chicago and 10 other cities will get an early look at the new judges in action.
The Season 12 premiere, scheduled to air Jan. 16 on Fox, will be shown Jan. 9 in movie theaters including the AMC River East 21, 322 E. Illinois.
The free 6 p.m. screening also includes a live, nationwide Q&A with host Ryan Seacrest, veteran judge Randy Jackson and newcomers Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban. That interactive event will be streamed live at www.americanidol.com and www.livestream.com.
