“Leverage” is coming to an end.

TNT said the drama, which follows a team of highly skilled operatives who stage elaborate scams to fight injustice, will conclude its five-season run with an episode at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

“I’m so happy we were able to film the series finale we had always envisioned and I’m happy we were able to present it on Christmas as our gift to you,” executive producer Dean Devlin wrote in a letter to a fan website. “It’s a bittersweet goodbye.”

Earlier, Devlin had said the fifth-season finale had been written as if it were the series finale, just in case the show didn’t return.

“I think it’s the darkest, most intense episode we’ve ever done,” he said in an earlier interview. “I’d like to think this really concludes what we set out to do in the pilot. Hopefully, for our fans, they’ll look at this and say, ‘I may not want the show to end, but if this is the end, this is the right way to go out.’ ”

‘MOTHER’ WON’T LEAVE: One show reportedly here for the long haul is “How I Met Your Mother,” whose return for a ninth season was far from certain. Deadline.com reports star Jason Segel was ready to quit, taking the hit CBS sitcom down with him, but changed his mind on Friday. CBS had no comment.
