Now Phillip Phillips gets his chance to fix a painful problem

As if the pressure of “American Idol” wasn’t enough, Phillip Phillips has been toughing out the effects of kidney stones. After Tuesday’s final performance show, the 21-year-old Texan told the Sun-Times that at that point he was “doing just fine” physically, but did laugh and agreed that he never thought making the “Idol” finale would require enduring physical pain. “I thought it would only be about having mental toughness — along with singing the best I could,” said Phillips. Now that “Idol” is done, the young singer is expected to immediately seek the medical treatment he needs.
