Rahm Emanuel named honorary chairman at Joffrey ballet

The Joffrey Ballet announced today that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been named the honorary chairman of the Joffrey Ballet board of directors. Mayor Emanuel, a former dancer, has a history with the Joffrey beginning at age 17 when he was offered a scholarship to study with the troupe. He opted to pursue dance at Sarah Lawrence College. The board also elected Jason Tyler, a senior vice president at Ariel Investments, LLC, as the dance company’s working chairman. Past board chairmen of the Joffrey Ballet included current White House chief of staff Bill Daley.
