Michael Weber, a veteran Chicago actor and director whose long list of credits ranges from musicals to drama, and whose work has garnered many Jeff Award nominations, has been named the new artistic director of Porchlight Music Theatre, effective June 1. He succeeds the company’s longtime director, L. Walter Stearns, who has moved on to run the Mercury Theatre.
Weber’s directing credits include productions at the Oak Park Festival Theatre, Indiana’s Theatre at the Center, Pheasant Run Theatre and at both Porchlight and the Mercury. Earlier this season he gave an outstanding performance in “Madagascar,” a play produced by Evanston’s Next Theatre.
