Theater Wit, the handsome three-stage complex at 1229 W. Belmont that serves as a home to both its own productions and those of resident and visiting Off Loop companies, has received a major grant of $60,000 from the MacArthur Fund for Arts and Culture at Prince (the Prince Charitable Trusts). The grant, which will help support general operating costs over three years, is the largest award given to Theater Wit since it opened its wholly rehabbed facility in 2010.
Theater Wit, a valuable Lake View area multiplex for live theater, is admired for its innovative Netflix-like membership program ($36; $22 for students), that enables theatergoers to see as many plays as many times as they wish in a one-year period.
