Rockettes returning to Rosemont; tickets on sale June 1

“The Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes” is headed back to Chicago with some big changes in store, including new scenes, costumes, choreography and a 50-foot LED screen. The production will put down stakes at the Akoo Theatre at Rosemont for 34 performances, Dec. 14-30.
“With new technological enhancements and show-stopping performance elements, the 2012 production offers a truly immersive experience like nothing Chicago audiences have ever seen before. Returning audiences will be amazed by the transformation of the ‘Christmas Spectacular,’ and new fans will not want to miss this show,” said a spokesperson for MSG Entertainment, which produces the show.
The show debuted at the theater in 1997 and this year will mark the 11the season that the “Christmas Spectacular” will be performed here.
New scenes include “New York at Christmas,” with the Rockettes taking audiences on a guided tour through the streets of New York City, and “Magic is There” in which two brothers journey to the North Pole with Santa Claus. Old favorites, such as “The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” and “The Living Nativity” remain in the show’s lineup.
