Profiles Theatre announced Wednesday that it will be staging the U.S. premiere of Neil LaBute’s latest work, “In a Forest, Dark and Deep,” April 13-June 3, at the company’s newest theater space, 4139 N. Broadway. The new Main Space (the former home of National Pastime Theatre) boasts 99 seats. Profiles says it will retain use of its current 65-seat space at 4147 N. Broadway (soon to be renamed The Alley Stage), as well as The Second Stage at 3408 N. Sheffield. The two Broadway theaters will, in essence, create a theater center on the street’s 4100 block.
Directed by Joe Jahraus, “In a Forest, Dark and Deep,” takes place in a lakeside cabin in the woods where a middle-aged brother and sister battle each other and their inner demons, questioning their lives and their insecurities. Profiles co-artistic director Darrell W. Cox has been cast as the brother, Bobby. The role of Betty has not yet been cast. The show replaces the previously announced LaBute work “The Break of Noon,” which is being postponed until next season.
Tickets, $35-$40, for “In a Forest, Dark and Deep” are available by calling (773) 549-1815, or online at profilestheatre.org .
