Cross-country microphone run comes to Chicago on Friday

The “American Idol” microphone relay will blow through Chicago on Friday during its cross-country tour. Since the launch last week in New York, “Idol” fans, local officials and former contestants have been passing along the mike from city to city during a two-week, 5,000-mile publicity trek that ends in L.A.
