Michael's doc in seclusion
Bill Zwecker: We haven't heard much from -- or about -- Michael Jackson's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray in recent weeks. Seems the controversial medico has been holed up with his legal team at the Beverly Regent Hotel in L.A. -- presumably working on a defense plan for charges the doctor is expected to be facing in the Jackson case.

Culture of violence

THE NEWS OF THE senseless slaughter of our soldiers and the wounding of so many others allegedly at the hands of a Muslim soldier at Fort Hood last week is too horrible to comprehend. Yet, in this land of the free, more and more folks are going nuts and killing and maiming innocent people who happened to be in the line of fire.

"I know what it's like to be broken up with in real life," Kristen Stewart says. "I don't know what it's like to be broken up by with a vampire." Ah, the perils of having a significant other who's a glowing immortal hunk ... and a protective one. In the "Twilight" sequel "New Moon," out Nov. 20, teenage Bella (Stewart) is dumped by her vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson). You know how it goes: I love you, but I'm a vampire and it's really not safe for us to date anymore because members of my family want to eat you, so I'm going to disappear.

England: their cup of tea
Bill Zwecker: Seems music mogul and superstar Jay-Z -- and his equally talented and successful wife Beyonce -- are quite taken with jolly old England. Word has it, the couple (aided by Madonna's own real estate agent) have been scouting for both a house in Mayfair (London's priciest 'hood) and an estate in the countryside near Oxford.

Bill Zwecker: Even though Josh Duhamel has denied the National Enquirer story he had a fling with a stripper, I've learned wife Fergie doesn't believe him.
