SLICK RESPONSE TO BUST:
Dourdan shows savvy

Gary Dourdan, the "CSI" star, has evidently put himself in the hands of a public-relations pro after cops in Palm Springs, Calif., found him asleep in his car, which also contained illegal drugs.

"I am embarrassed to find myself in this situation, and I am profoundly grateful to everyone for their support," the actor said in a statement. "I have complete confidence in and respect for the justice system and will cooperate fully with any investigation."

He'd been at a music festival, he explains, adding that "pulling over did prevent a DUI" and that "the luggage carrying whatever they found was not mine."

ASHLEY HAS A HAPPY 23RD:
Spitzer's pal parties

Eliot Spitzer is still hiding his sorry backside away from the world, but his hired friend Ashley Dupre isn't so shy. The other night, says the N.Y. Post, she "threw herself a small 23rd birthday party" with a group of friends at a club called Marquee, in New York's Chelsea district.

She became the center of attention, the paper's source says, not least because she was wearing a sweatshirt "three sizes too small." She was drinking tequila.

BOND THEME 'RUBBISH':
Winehouse bags tune

Did you see about Amy Winehouse dropping out of doing the theme song for the new Bond flick, with producer Mark Ronson saying she's not ready to work?

The Daily Mirror, in England, had the juicy version: Amy and Mark had been in a studio in Oxfordshire working on this thing for ages. But when she heard the final version, she shouted at Ronson, "It's [bad word] rubbish!" and stomped out of the studio.

Asked if the project could be saved, Ronson told the paper, "I don't think so unless by some miracle of science it gets recorded and someone sings a vocal on it, so probably not."
