Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proclaimed Oct. 10 Richard Melman Day in Chicago. Melman (right) is the founder and chairman of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, which started in 1971 with the Lincoln Park bistro R.J. Grunts. In addition, Melman will be inducted into the Chicago Culinary Museum and Chefs Hall of Fame on Oct. 17, along with Chef Paul Kahan (Avec, Blackbird, The Publican) and Pastry Chef Alain Roby (All Chocolate Kitchen). Tickets, $125-$149, for the induction ceremony at Castle, 632 N. Dearborn (a fundraising event to benefit the museum’s future site), are available at brownpapertickets.com (keyword chefs hall of fame). The mayor has also declared Oct. 17 as Chef Paul Kahan Day and Oct. 24 as Chef Alain Roby Day. —Dave Hoekstra
