'Other Kate' subpoenaed here
The "Jon & Kate Plus 8" saga has hit Chicago's courts.
The production company for the divorce-torn show on cable TV's TLC network filed papers in Cook County's Circuit Court Tuesday seeking to subpoena a different Kate -- Kate Major, a Glenview resident and onetime Star magazine reporter.
Major is also reportedly an ex-girlfriend of Jon Gosselin, the former co-star of the reality TV series who's now being sued by Discovery Talent for breach of contract.
The company wants Major to tell what she knows about Gosselin's deals and would-be deals to appear on other TV shows -- which it contends violated his exclusivity deal for the TLC show that blew up in popularity and then unraveled, along with the Gosselins' marriage.
"It wasn't something I was prepared for," Major told the Chicago Sun-Times Tuesday of the effort to force her to give a pretrial deposition and possibly turn over records.
She didn't want to talk about much else. But she did say, "I intend to fully cooperate."
