ABC announced that “Family Guy” Seth MacFarlane will host the 85th Oscars on Feb. 24.
“It’s truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars,” said MacFarlane in a statement. “My
thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set
forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen roast.”
MacFarlane made his feature directorial debut this summer with “Ted.” He also co-wrote and produced the film, and voiced the title character. He hosted “Saturday Night Live’s” season premiere last month.
Let’s hope he’s got the microphone thing down pat before the Academy Awards. He stood in front of the wrong mic while presenting an Emmy at the recent TV awards show, making him inaudible. When he realized the mistake, he cracked a joke about that being what happens when you don’t show up for rehearsal.
How do you think MacFarlane will do?
