Art on Track isn’t the only art project currently on track for the Chicago Transit Authority. CTA officials announced on Tuesday that they are soliciting submissions from local artists for art installations at seven of the North side Red Line stations currently undergoing renovations.
The CTA plans to spend more than half a million dollars — between $45,000 and $99,000 per station — for public art that will hang at the Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, Thorndale, Granville, Morse and Jarvis stops. The project is funded by federal funds.
Applications are due Oct. 10. A CTA committee will select 25 artists from the pool of applicant’s proposals. From there, the seven finalists will be selected and their works are expected to be unveiled to the public in September 2012.
