LOS ANGELES — A publicist for Jerry Lewis said the comedian was OK Wednesday after being hospitalized in New York overnight.
Lewis, 86, had a health scare Tuesday night just before he was scheduled to receive an award and present another to Tom Cruise at the Friars Club Entertainment Icon Awards.
Publicist Candi Cazau in Las Vegas said colleagues told her Lewis was fine. She said he forgot to eat or drink and his blood sugar level took a dive.
Though reports said Lewis collapsed, Cazau did not confirm that but said he became weak and went to the hospital as a precaution.
Lewis is directing rehearsals for a new musical based on his 1963 film “The Nutty Professor.”
