Haley Reinhart is coming home this weekend, but she won’t be getting much rest.
“I’m lucky in that Chicago is such a great city and I get to get home there from time to time, and it’s a blessing to be with my family, but even if I’m completely exhausted and supposed to be taking a break at home, I can’t do it,” says the former “American Idol” finalist and Wheeling native, whose debut album “Listen Up!” is out Tuesday. “When nighttime rolls around, I’m a night owl so I’ll be out doing something!”
Reinhart will perform Friday morning on WFLD-Channel 32, sign CDs in the suburbs (2 p.m. Saturday at Walmart, 1455 E. Lake Cook Rd. in Wheeling) and play a free, all-ages concert (9:30 p.m. Saturday at Hard Rock Café, 63 W. Ontario).
“Listen Up!” is a pretty good debut, 10 tracks of retro-ish pop featuring guests such as B.O.B. on the single, “Oh My!” and guitarist Harry Reinhart, Haley’s dad, on four songs.
Reinhart will be back in Chicago this summer, the first “Idol” contestant to be booked at Lollapalooza, set for Aug. 3-5 in Grant Park.
“I’ve never played these huge festivals,” she says. “I’m used to playing with ymyown little jazz band from back home. We’d do outdoor gigs, but not that big!”
