He’s the guy who tried to sink his teeth into Bella in “Twilight.”

That didn’t work out too great for actor Cam Gigandet, whose meat eater James was toast in the first film — and spurred on tons of revenge in the subsequent ones.

What becomes a dead vampire most?

For Gigandet, it’s work, and lots of it. The budding sex symbol from Tacoma, Wash., says that he needs to get out of the house for many reasons.

“I have a 2-year-old and took a little break from working,” says Gigandet, who also starred in “Easy A” and “Burlesque.” “Now, she’s becoming a little bratty, so I’m ready to get back to work. A man can only watch so many episodes of ‘Yo Gabba Gabba.’ ”

To that end, he stars opposite Nicole Kidman and Nicolas Cage in the new “Trespass,” now showing at AMC South Barrington and on video on demand. It’s a crime thriller about a couple being held for ransom.

“I’m one of the bad people, but I have a different view from my bad brother of how to conduct business,” Gigandet related. “I believe with every fiber of my being that I’m doing the right thing. He tries to keep it civil.”

As for working with Cage, Gigandet says it was tough. “He’s so quirky. There were times when I’d literally have to turn away while filming because he would look at me with these crazy eyes and then later say, ‘I know I made you laugh inside.’”

His “Twilight” character lives on. “There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t have a discussion about James not really being dead-dead,” he says. “I just say, ‘I think I went to that great vampire heaven in the sky.’ But fans want him alive. They want me to go after Robert Pattinson.”

A few fans might be depressed when they hear the following: “In real life, there is far less drama. I’m engaged. I have a kid. But everyone can still love me, right? They can still see my movies even though I’m not on the market, right?”
