Chicago has the fastest rapper in the world
Chicago has the fastest rappers in the world. Really.
Local rapper Rebel XD (Seandale Price) recently broke his own Guinness record to nab another authorization by the world-record group as the world’s fastest rapper.
It’s his third time to claim that title. He first broke the record in 1992, freestyling 674 syllables in 54.9 seconds. The rapper who previously held the title? Another Chicago MC: Twista.
Rebel XD broke the record again while appearing on the “Guinness Prime Time” TV show in 1998, mastering 683 syllables in 54.5 seconds. That honor eventually landed him on the Oprah Winfrey show.
A Seattle rapper later broke that record, but in late July of last year Rebel XD sent another recording of himself, captured at Chicago’s Regiment Studios, to the Guinness folks for review. His new record was certified this spring: 852 syllables in 42 seconds.
That’s about 20 syllables a second.
